How we helped Springer Nature and Macmillan Education migrate data following a merger.
Our long-established relationship with Oxford-based international publisher Macmillan Education entered a new phase when the company merged with German publishing giant, Springer.
Springer Nature is one of the world’s leading global research, educational and professional publishers. They are the world’s largest academic book publisher, with over 13k staff and a turnover of €1.5 billion.
Following the merger between Macmillan Education and Springer, the former’s CRM system was being overtaken by Springer’s own solution. The vast amount of existing data was required to be migrated to the new system, but complex intricacies in the information made this process challenging.
Our proposal and solution
Our experience with Macmillan Education’s business-critical systems enabled us to understand their data migration requirements. We were able to recommend a process whereby the data would be analysed, cleansed, and migrated across to Springer’s solution. Our preparation included Gap analysis and understanding business processes, and we offered full support to the old system while the transition was occurring.
The merger between Macmillan Education and Springer occurred smoothly, and their transition to a new CRM system was seamless. The data was analysed, cleansed, and migrated accordingly, allowing the team to make use of legacy data in the new system.
